For all you guys sending money. Please ensure that you have proof of funds sent from abroad and obtain a certificate to this effect.

This will be a proof that funds were from abroad and as and when you sell it will help the repatriation funds to UK

Good point about the certificate. I'm getting 16.2 to the pound with Hifx. If anyone is getting better (minus any bank charges) let me know please.
thanks.

mc neilee,

I sugguest you speak to your lawyer. I would have thought you would need a proper authenticated certificate to prove.

A mere contract could be for anything for which money has been transfered. e.g when the € was very week in 2003, I bought a car from Belgium and used HIFX for it. I could have been sending the money for belgian choclate the contract from HIFX does not say anything.

Further, all this is new to the moroccan civil servents and we all know how dogmatic civil servents can be in any Country.

The payment confirmation provided by Hifx (and other exchange companies) is sufficient for the the transaction.

Hi Merlin,
Can you please advise, why you say the HIFX etc contract is sufficient. Who advised you this ? e.g your solicitor, agent, Fadesa etc.

Many thanks,

Anwer to Shak is .. No one.
You may be right about the certificates for foreign transfers. BUT HiFX and others are in the market for this specific reason.
If an official wanted proof that I am sending money for buying property and not Camels then the confirmation together with the contract (showing the account being paid for that purpose) will have to be enough. The transaction is simple and audit trail is easy to prove to any official.
Has anyone out there had any problems with this? Or sending money abroad in general?
Horror stories welcome.
